I have a number of energy data points (e.g. IT Energy, Lighting Energy and Cooling Energy) that I want to represent in a stacked column chart. Can you advise I can create such a chart?
Stacked Column Chart
I would say to save time/effort/build something more modifiable in the future, the way to do it is using a repeater.
The first part of good repeater practice is having a consistent point hierarchy (something you structure manually in Mango).
Let's pretend we have a folder called "Repeater Data". In that folder, we have folders called "Row1", "Row2" etc. and in each folder we have "Val1", "Val2" etc.
We're going to make an vertical layout group in DGLux. Give it a 'table' dynamic property, and make this a 'hierarchy query' where the path queries is "Repeater Data" (drag the folder from the Station Tree into the query). This table will have 'name' and 'path' fields, as well as maybe a few less important to us.
That table will now power your repeater, so go back to that vertical layout, and bind the whole table into the Query field. Now open up the item renderer, and design the panel.
Now, to get data into this, we'll relativize the panel. First, bind all the ValX fields directly from the Station Tree into your indicators. Finally, click the properties button on the item renderer. Select the outer most group in your Outline (should be a group of the item renderer when that's open) and bind the path variable from the item renderer properties to Container/Ord.
It's important to note that all the points displayed on each panel have the same name within their folder. For instance, if this were temperature data we could have our points be found at /RepeaterData/ITEnergy/Temp-1, /RepeaterData/LightningEnergy/Temp-1, etc for the relativization to work.
It's a bit on advanced topic for a text explanation, but I hope that gets you started. There is more information about relativizing available in the DGLogik support videos: http://support.dglogik.com/forums/20104323-Tips-Tricks
Thank you for the tips on repeater for a data table. I actually have a use for such a table in my dashboard.
However, I would like to make a clustered/stacked column chart. Would you be able to advise how to create one with a video tutorial. It is much easier to follow than text. I have actually find the article in DGLux forum, but the video wouldn't play for me: http://support.dglogik.com/entries/21447398-Stacked-Bar-Column-Charts.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
